BARBARA JACOBS SMALL MA, ABC

Barbara Jacobs Small has a passion for strategic communication and media. She brings to the table a mix of skills, knowledge and hands-on experience in a range of communication related disciplines. 

Education: Barbara holds a Master of Arts degree in Media, Communication & Public Relations from the University of Leicester, London, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from the University of The West Indies, a Professional Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in London. She is an accredited member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).   

Barbara’s involvement in media and communication spans 30 years. She worked with the Saint Lucia Broadcasting Corporation for close to 20 years, where she rose up the ranks from radio announcer to Programme Manager. Her excellence in broadcast journalism has earned for her the 1991 National Media Award for Best Radio Documentary, and the M&C Fine Arts award 1988 and 1991 for Creative Journalism. She has also been recognized by the Division of Gender Relations as an Outstanding Woman in Media.

She is a founding member of Panos Caribbean, serving that NGO as a Director for three terms. 

Her move from Broadcast media to Public Relations and Marketing resulted in the establishment of her own company - Right Angle Imaging. As managing Director of her company Right Angle Imaging, Barbara oversees her company’s services to a diverse clientele ranging from development organisations, corporate, government and NGO.  A hands-on media and corporate communication practitioner with an unabashed spirituality, Barbara’s excellence in Public Relations, Communication Strategies, Public Education and Marketing Communication is heavily influenced by a commitment to honesty and integrity to both the clients and the publics they seek to serve. This makes her effective in the area of Crisis Communication Management and has over the years gained the respect, trust and confidence of the CEOs with which she has worked. Her professional contributions have placed her in the service of such entities as the CARICOM CSME Unit, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), ACP FISH, OECS Commission, United National Development Programme and an extensive list of NGOS, Government Agencies and Corporate Marketers in Saint Lucia.

She has authored a number of publications, the latest being a substantial historical account – Running in Heels, Woman and Politics in Saint Lucia 1961- 2016.  

Cyrus Sibert

Cyrus Sibert has been working since 2002 in the Radio and Online/Social Media in Haiti as a political journalist doing watchdog on democracy, security, police, gangs, drug trafficking, kidnapping, human rights, justice and governance. In 2008, following tips on the scale sexual exploitation on minors in orphanages, the Catholic Church and human trafficking, he decided to devote more time and resources to the fight against child abuse, pedophilia, human trafficking and NGOs. He studied law and had several training sessions on journalism with United Nations agencies like UNESCO, UNICEF, MINUSTAH, PANOS and VOA/US Embassy. He also had several other training sessions with AJH (Association des Journalistes Haitiens), IRE (Investigative Journalism), SPJ, NABJ (microaggressions) and MIC (Media Institute of the Caribbean) on Energy and Radio Journalism; assisted several foreign journalists and media in their investigation in Haiti. He contributed to the production of the Book "A CRUZ HAITIANA" recently published by the Brazilian journalist, Iara Lemos @IaraLemos on the sexual exploitation of Haitian children in Haiti and in the Dominican Republic. Based on his reports, US federal agencies (ICE, HOMELAND SECURITY) investigated the American serial pedophile named Douglas Perlitz who has been arrested and jailed by US Court for 20 years. Also, rapist priests have been unmasked or expelled; UN-backed Haitian police forces dismantled gangs, arrested powerful kidnappers and jailed corrupt police officers. 

He spent ten years working (since 2011) as an investigator, consultant and liaison for the American law firms Mitchell Garabedian Law Office (Boston) and Simmons Hanly Conroy (A national law firm).

We must point out that in 2008, at the invitation of “Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas” (CDP), he covered elections in the Dominican Republic. He is still working online and for Radio Kontak Inter, 94.9 FM (Cap-Haitien, Haiti).

Indhira Suero

Indhira Suero is a journalist, press analyst, and professor at universities in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. She is an ambassador for SembraMedia, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the diversity of voices and content quality in digital media in Latin America, and a Member of the Editorial Board of Connectas, an investigative journalism platform in the Americas. Fulbright Scholar (2015-2017), emphasizing African American media and new technologies. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism and Media from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Also, the creator of the Negrita Come Coco, a character that promotes popular Dominican culture through social networks.

Natalee Legore

Natalee Legore hails from the food basket parish of St. Elizabeth in Jamaica. She attended Hampton High School then went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Life has presented several challenges that have shaped Natalee’s life. In 1995, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus and by the following year at age 16, she lost her mother. By the time she was 26, she was already battling renal failure as a result of the lupus. Natalee’s kidneys failed in 2014 and she has been a dialysis patient ever since, hoping that by some miracle, she’ll secure a live donor. In 2010, Natalee migrated to Trinidad and Tobago and has since graced the airwaves of I95.5FM with her frank and vivacious personality. In 2020, she moved from radio to television, going on to host the Morning Brewv on CNC3, then the Now Morning Show on TTT Limited. A committed and passionate journalist who has gained the respect and love of the population through her incisive and thorough interviews followed by a laughter that would make everyone join in.

Theresa T Goodwin

Theresa T. Goodwin is a broadcast journalist and Senior News Reporter based in the twin-island state of Antigua and Barbuda. She has over 15 years of experience covering a wide range of issues including, but not limited to politics, social issues, and developments in Health, Education, and the Environment.  Mrs. Goodwin also has a keen interest in human interest stories which chronicle the life and achievements of the ordinary man.

She is currently employed with Newsco Limited Observer Radio and Newspaper as a News Producer, Reporter, and presenter providing content for radio news bulletins on the different platforms.

She is also a wife on mother who values family and goes above and beyond to ensure quality time is spent with her entire family. She is a member of the Lions Club- a local non-profit organization that lobbies on the behalf of the poor and vulnerable.

Kenton Chance

Kenton X. Chance is a Vincentian journalist, based in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He has been involved in journalist since 2002. He reports on a wide range of issues, including politics, economics, and the environment. He holds a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs, focusing on global governance, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.

He enjoys travelling and is especially interested in the natural world and how the various elements are connected and interact with each other.

Steffon Campbell

Steffon R. K. Campbell is a Trinbagonian Assistant Lecturer and Coordinator of the Journalism Programme at CARIMAC—UWI, published author, Communication Consultant, freelance journalist, and podcaster. His weekly podcast—Men’s Truth Podcast—is on its fourth season and seeks to provide a safe space for men to express their vulnerabilities, backed by his PhD research.

He also holds a BA in Media and Communication (with first class honours), an MA in

Communication Studies and recently completed his PhD in Social Policy. He has presented his work in countries like France, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia, and South Africa. He has also produced several radio programmes, documentaries in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent & the Grenadines and has written several investigative stories for the Caribbean Investigative Journalism Network (CIJN).

Steffon R. K. Campbell is currently on the Board of Directors for Universal Media Company Limited, which oversees NewsTalk 93FM and is a member of the Media Institute of the Caribbean (MIC). He has worked with public and private NGOs including the United Nations, Public Media Alliance (UK), AM Resorts, Playa Resorts, Sandals Resorts International and Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL). His areas of specialization include communication for development, gender, social policy, journalism, and organizational communication.
