DATA JOURNALISM & FACT FINDING FOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING IN JAMAICA

  • Jamaica Chamber of Industry and Commerce Richmond Park Great House, 58 Half Way Tree Road Kingston 10 Jamaica (map)

This programme will be customized using source documents from Jamaica whose ATI and annual reporting standards by state entities allow for transparency.

The interpretation of the data alongside correlation methods to produce grounded investigative stories is lacking in the journalistic sphere. This workshop will take journalists through a step by step approach on how to create stories by building on available data; how to read between the lines; how to use ATI to obtain more relevant data by understanding what the specific requests should be.

The objective is to ensure that journalists can leave the two-day workshop with a keen knowledge on how to use available data to tell compelling stories.
